A Digital Tribute to Málaga CF’s Historic 1999 Ascent

Martiricos99 is a dedicated content platform and digital hub celebrating Málaga CF’s legendary promotion to La Liga’s First Division in 1999. The project’s core mission was to create a central, authoritative website that supports and amplifies the existing social media presence, effectively capturing and consolidating online traffic for the fan community.
Key Objectives & Strategy:
The primary goal was to build a nostalgic, content-rich destination for fans. The strategy centered on using the website as a central pillar, pulling in dynamic content from various social platforms to create a seamless and engaging user experience. This involved:
- Centralizing Content: Acting as the main hub that aggregates and showcases all Martiricos99-related media.
- Driving Traffic: Creating a SEO-friendly website to capture organic search traffic and funnel it towards the active social media communities.
- Enhancing Engagement: Providing a permanent, easily navigable home for the project’s historical content beyond the ephemeral nature of social media feeds.
Execution & Technical Implementation:
The platform was built on WordPress, chosen for its robustness and ease of content management. Key technical integrations were crucial to the project’s success:
- YouTube API Integration: Automated the display of published videos directly on the site, ensuring the latest content was always available.
- Social Media Bridges: Implemented direct links and embedded feeds to seamlessly connect visitors with the project’s primary social media channels, encouraging cross-platform interaction.
My Role:
I was responsible for the end-to-end execution of this project, which included planning the site architecture, selecting and customizing the WordPress theme, implementing the necessary integrations, and managing the content strategy to ensure a cohesive brand experience.
Outcome:
Martiricos99 successfully established a permanent digital archive and community touchpoint for a pivotal moment in Málaga CF’s history. It effectively serves as the project’s backbone, increasing the visibility of its social content and strengthening the overall online presence dedicated to the 1999 ascent.
